Hospitalization Kept Me From Blogging

I was confined last Jan.27 and still recovering from my illness this time. Its not easy missing my blogs. I do hope you bear with my blog.

I have splenomegaly with multiple cysts in it. Currently taking medications for the Spleen to grow smaller. Some test where sent to NKI in Manila, hopefully will have the results this week.

Its not easy to be absent from work and online...

PGMA Visits CDO Today

Yes I can hear helicopters in the air, often happens when President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo visits our city. PGMA is here in Cagayan de Oro City today to distribute relief goods to the flood victims as well as give the calamity fund to the city government.

PGMA went to Mt. Carmel church here in Carmen straight from the airport at 10AM. Then proceed to meet with DILG and some of the city officials. Reports from the City and Regional Disaster Councel about the places affected by the flood will be aired to the president as well as the report for the City Mayor Jaraula. Some places experienced landslide also brought by the flood aside from damages in agriculture and enfastructure due to the calamity.

The itenerary of PGMA will also include visiting neighboring municipalities of this city which also experienced the calamity. She will travel as far as Surigao City today.

About Dinara's Bad Start

Today, I am glad to see an on-going game where Dinara is playing. However I was shocked with how bad she started the game. Although she showed she is playing hard to her opponent,Ekaterina Makarova. The first round was an advantage to her oppponent 6-7.

After the first round, Dinara was well warmed up. She was able to score and minimized faults. She won 6-3, and dominated the third round with a 6-0.

I know Dinara one of the top players. I think she was just adjusting with the opponent's style of playing. But later in that game, I can sense that she still have that drive to play up to the finals.

I resently checked my friendster and was glad to see someone uploaded some pictures of the flood. Yes our house is near the highway but it is elevated. So our house was not floating in waters first and second week of this year.

In Kauswagan Highway, nearest our house, the water from canals and creeks overflowed. Roads look like rivers instead. Pictures below are taken near the highway of one of the oldest subdivision in the city, RER Subdivision. Since it is an old subdivision, the level of the road now higher by several feet. 2009 Tennis Australian Open

Today, the opening of 2009 Australian Open excites me. I learn some players were injured and some were eager to win. I am a fan of Ivanovic and Federer inside the hard courts. I do wish them well.

I am also excited because the games are near asia, means each game are played by the time I am awake. I mean most of the games are in western countries and I have a heard time coping with excitement while the game is on.

My heart will probably beat more faster than ever before special during semis and finals. I do believe that players who have prepared well will do well here.

Prayer for Abundance

I think I often pray for this in the morning, but I am glad someone online forwarded an email today. We know we have a God who can provide us with abundance. Let's keep the faith and pray.

Heavenly Father, most Gracious and Loving God, I pray to you that you Abundantly bless my family and me. I know that you recognize, that a Family is more than just a mother, father, sister, brother, husband and wife, but all who believe and trust in You. GOD, I send up a prayer request for financial blessing for not only the person who sent this to me, but for me and all that I have forwarded this message on to. And that the power of joined prayer by those who believe and trust in you is more powerful than anything.! I thank you in Advance for your blessings. God, deliver the person reading this right now from debt and debt burdens. Release your Godly wisdom that I may be a good steward over all that you have given me GOD, for I know how wonderful and mighty you are and how if we just obey you and walk in your word and have the faith of a mustard seed that you will pour out blessings. I thank you now Lord for the recent blessings I have received and for the blessings yet to come, because I know you are not done with me yet. In Jesus name Amen.

Cagayan de Oro Calamity Aftermaths

What the calamity left our city? I just listed some here:

1. Mud - brought my the flood of course. Along with the undesirable odor that stick with the dirty water with dissolved mud and dirts.

2. Garbage - some caused the flood. Some entered houses and some were scattered on the roads.

3. Damaged Creeks - old creeks made the flood worst when it started to give up. After each creeks were damages, the water run wildly destroying for properties.

4. Damaged Bridges - due to high volume of running water, some old and new bridges were damaged. This caused from passengers to be stranded in Cagayan de Oro and in some municipalities.

5. Canceled Flights - no air traffic was available in the city due to heavy clouds surrounding the airport area. This caused some of the members of PSG to be stranded.

6. Damaged Houses - some were even gone. Both the flood and the tidal waves caused some houses to break.

7. Damaged Farms - some rice fields which have rice ready for harvest were all washed out.

8. Damaged Economy - some livelihoods were damaged, some failed to report for work, some failed to operated. Like Gaisano in Carmen, the store was closed for a day because it was flooded. Some lost their farms and live stocks.

9. Relief Goods - still keep on coming. It is positive to count this as a blessing.

10. Calamity Funds - I learn that those who experience the calamity, they can file a calamity loan and the president offered to pay for it. Another blessing for those who badly need it.

Not bad, after all 2 out of 10 were a blessing. Let's thank for the blessing of realization also and the blessing to be of help. My list might be short or you can add your list too, just don't mind telling me.

Back In Academe Again

After 5 months of being away from the academe, I am once again back to the world of teaching. I have in me the desires to teach, subconsciously and consciously. I love teaching, for me it is very fulfilling.

Five months ago, I handled subjects for engineering technology. I have to make several preparations. I teach two subjects daily, while working in the corporate as well. I was actually given the chance to do full time teaching, since the instructors of that college were scholars of DOST and were enrolled to finish a masteral degree.

While I was substituting as an instructor, full time in both the academe and the corporate, I realize several things. I learn to value my time and my responsibilities. I needed to choose between the two to have focus.

I decided to continue my corporate job while leaving my academe dreams. I know at that time, academe world was a dream come true, but I need to focus on my priorities. At that time, my priority leads me to go on with the corporate world.

Luckily, before the end of year 2008, I was offered to be part of the academe again. This time, it is part-time, still a substitute, but I don't need to give up my corporate job. This time, I will have to have one subject, and I will have more time to focus on it. I am now part of the IT part time instructors.

Being back in the academe, is another dream come true. Not only focusing on programming this time, but also focusing on going full time with the academe. I hope and pray this year, all my other dreams can come true.

PLDT expands in South with Philcom

PHILIPPINE Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) now owns Philcom Corp., a local exchange carrier with operations in southern Philippines.

First, PLDT had to buy all of Philcom Corp.’s liabilities from PremierGlobal Resources Corp. (PGRC) for P340 million. PGR is a separate company that held all of Philcom Corp.’s debts.

A debt-assignment agreement was signed on Friday last week between PLDT and PGRC, in which the latter sold to the phone giant the outstanding obligations owed by Philcom Corp. to suppliers, banks and other financial institutions.

To complete the transaction in owning 100-percent of Philcom Corp., PLDT had to ink a share-assignment agreement with Philcom Corp.’s parent firm Philippine Global Communications Inc. (PGCI).

Under the deal signed on January 3, PGCI agreed to sell, transfer and convey in favor of PLDT its rights, title and interest in and to all of its shares of common stock in Philcom Corp. for P75 million.

“The result of the two transactions ends up [with] PLDT owning 100 percent of Philcom Corp.,” said PLDT spokesperson Mon Isberto in an interview.

The acquisition will allow the PLDT group to broaden its presence in Mindanao, where it already has operations carried out under PLDT-Maratel Inc. and Smart Broadband Inc. “This expanded presence is expected to benefit not only the existing subscribers in the area, but provides the communities in the area an opportunity to access improved telecommunications facilities,” said PLDT.

The parties would still have to seek approvals of the transaction from the National Telecommunications Commission.

Since January 2004, PLDT has been managing the fixed-line facilities of Philcom Corp., pursuant to an advisory and management-services agreement with PGCI to help improve the operations of the company.

PLDT has been in discussions with the shareholders and creditors of Philcom Corp. to restructure its debts and improve its financial condition since 2007. Philcom Corp. owed PLDT approximately P2.2 billion since December 31, 2001.

Philcom operates in the provinces of Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Basilan, Bukidnon, Camiguin, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, Misamis Oriental, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur. It also has 16 local exchanges in Mindanao, including Cagayan de Oro, Panabo and Butuan City.

Among its other services, Philcom also offers Voice Connect Direct Access, which is dedicated to private telephone lines, a service that provides connection for large volume of domestic and international long-distance traffic; and Internet access, providing customers with the required bandwidth to connect to the Internet utilizing any form of last-mile facility from domestic private line to wireless connection.

Philcom has 26 interconnection agreements and more than 16 overseas correspondent relationships. They include PLDT, Globe Telecom Inc., Smart Communications Inc., Bayan Telecommunications Inc., Eastern Telecommunication Philippines Inc., Digital Telecommunications Philippines Inc., Bell Telecoms, Next Mobile and Express Telecom. Philcom also has tie-ups with Australia, Canada, Saudi Arabia, Taiwan, the United States, Singapore, Malaysia, Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Indonesia and Thailand.

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo today signed into law a bill that will convert the Mindanao Polytechnic State College (MPSC) here into a state university.

The conversion of the MPSC into the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) under the newly-signed Republic Act No. 9519 is intended to raise the school’s level of excellence in science and technology geared towards the socio-economic development of the entire Mindanao region.

The new law was principally authored in the Senate by Sen. Aquilino Pimentel Jr. and in the House of Representatives by Cagayan de Oror City 2nd District Rep. Rufus Rodriguez.

The simple signing ceremony was held at the MPSC gymnasium in Barangay Lapasan here and witnessed by Agriculture Secretary Arthur Yap, Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri, Representatives Rodriguez, Bambi Emano, Rolando Uy, Antonio Lagdameo and Candido Pancrudo, Misamis Oriental Gov. Oscar Moreno, and Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Constantino Jaraula.

“I am very happy. It is really about time that this state college be converted into state university. This is the best center of excellence not only in Region 10 but also in whole Mindanao,” the President told Zubiri, who was also one of the authors of the senate version of the bill.

The new law mandates the university to primarily provide advanced education, higher technological, professional instruction and advanced instruction on mathematics, science, technology, engineering and advanced research and extension work in human resource development in critical skills and competencies required for global competitiveness.

To be able to cope with rigid competition in the wake of globalization, the Arroyo administration is investing heavily on the competitiveness of the country’s human capital through the enhancement of science and technology.

Mayor Jaraula, for his part, said the conversion of the MPSC into a university is timely as it will match the demand for high-level manpower in Science and Technology needed by industries and business establishments in the region.

Prior to its transformation into a state university, MPSC already operated like a university. Its main campus is located in this city with satellite campuses in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental; Alubijid, Misamis Oriental; Panaon, Misamis Occidental; and Oroquita City, also in Misamis Occidental.

It is certified by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) as Category A under Program Category of SUCs with distinctive competence in the area of Science and Technology, Advance Studies, Engineering Technology and Teacher Education.

It is also among the 14 out of 110 SUCs in the country which qualify as a Level IV SUC through the joint evaluation of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and Department of Budget and Management (DBM).

Aside from the Level IV classification, MPSC was awarded Top 1 performing school in the country, with 100 percent passing rate of the BS Architecture graduates in 2005 and 2006. Equivalent merit was awarded to the BSEE graduates in the year 2006.

It also serves as a CHED Zonal Research Center in Region X and CARAGA areas wherein it assists the commission in the effective and efficient management of research activities for other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).

MPSC, which is also a Regional Node for Computerization program, is a recipient of funding from the Swedish International Development Assistance (SIDA) for IT equipment.

Other subsequent categories of MPSC include being a CISCO Training Provider and a Continuing Professional Education source.

Non-Stop Rain in Cagayan de Oro City

PAG-ASA said, Cagayan de Oro is experiencing the "Tail-end of Cold Front" thus rain and strong winds are present. Last night, I have been monitoring the rain since I came from work. At 8PM, commercial power went off. And rain this time was harder than in that morning.

At 10PM, commercial power went back. We turned our radio on, and listened to the reports. Some areas of the city were warned to vacate their homes because it was forcasted that water will rise high due to heavy rain fall.

At 1AM, an officemate texted that part of Macanhan started to have flood. In the radio, some areas at the coastal areas were forced to vacate their place. Specially in Macabalan area where the waves destroyed some of the houses already. The waves were stonger and the level of water went high.

One of the barangay capitan recalled that the same level of water was experienced last Jan.3. This government official is the Capitan of Barangay Macasandig, he was awake and was with the evacuees at the covered court.

The City Disasters Coordinating Operations Group were also present in the City Hall ground. They were the ones responsible rescueing and coordinating with government officials and civic groups. They were also monitoring reports from radio stations, special DXCC or the RMN - Radio Mindano Network broadcasting 24 hours.

At 2AM some residents of Ilaya, Carmen asked for help. The houses near the bridge have water levels up to the ceiling. Some of the villagers are now on top of their houses.

The broadcaster of the radio was able to contact Msgr. Elmer Abacahin. The said priest was interviewed and then later was asked to lead a community prayer. At 3AM this prayer was broadcasted live thru RMN.

A former city counselor was also monitoring the said radio station program. She is Ms. Sabanal, who insisted on calling the attentions of the provincial and city leaders to address help to Bill Gates' Foundation.

It was my first time to learn about this foundation. I also learn that the said foundation have been helping worldwide. I do hope that this blog can also gain attetion from this foundation, to help the victims as well as the city and the province to recover from this calamity.

The Human Resource Department of Philcom Corporation, announces today its community service in response to the calamity that hit our city. They encourage, us, their employees to give in cash or kind for the victims of the said calamity.

Inside Philcom Corporation, our office, are situated boxes with label "community box". It is where everyone can place their donation like used clothing, medicines, kitchen utensils, blankets, mat/banig, etc. Also for those who wanted to donate cash, Angel Balili is in-charged to receive the amount.

As per email, receieved from HR, all collected items and cash will be forwarded to ABS-CBN and part of it will also be imparted to the employees who were also victims of the calamity.

(Update) MANILA, Philippines - Valley Golf Course and Country Club officials on Sunday expelled Delfin de la Paz from its roster of members and suspended Agrarian Reform Secretary Nasser Pangandaman Sr. in connection with their scuffle at the club's last month.

In a two-page resolution, the golf course’s board of directors sanctioned De la Paz for “disorderly behavior" when he instigated the brawl with Mayor Nasser Pangandaman Jr. of Masiu in Lanao del Sur, his brother Mohammed Hussein, and their bodyguards.

The Valley Golf officials "banned for life" nonmembers Nasser Jr. and Hussein for "unruly behavior" at the golf course.

Pangandaman Sr., a member of the golf club, was held "vicariously liable" for the actions of his two sons who were his guests.

"The board unanimously resolves that Mr. Delfin de la Paz be expelled as a member of the club for disorderly conduct in instigating the brawl that occurred. As to Secretary Nasser Pangadaman Sr., the board unanimously resolves that he be suspended for a period of two years because of the disorderly conduct of his guests," Valley Golf spokesman Teofilo Abejo said.

He said the decision was based on the accounts of marshals, caddies, three house attendants of the executive’s course’s hole No. 5, and the statements from both parties.

The board added that De la Paz and Pangandaman's dependents will also be banned from the premises of the club for the duration imposed upon them.

The recommended penalties will also take effect immediately, but the involved parties can appeal the sanctions after a year.

The resolution was signed by all nine members of the board.

Jose Ferlu Sudario, one of the directors of the golf club, said he was happy with the board’s decision.

"Hopefully, on hindsight, tama ang naging decision namin. Natutuwa naman ako na nag-desisyon ng board [ng] unanimous. Kapag ang member ay nagkakamali, dapat patawan ng parusa. And that’s exactly what we did," he said in an interview with reporters.

["Hopefully, on hindsight, our decision would prove to be right. I'm happy that the board decision was unanimous. Whenever a member does something wrong, he should be punished. And that's exactly what we did."]

However, he said that the children of De la Paz – Maria Bhel (Bambee) and Lorenzo (Bino) – should be spared.

He said they might appeal the decision as Bambee and Bino are both promising golfers.

Abejo clarified that their investigation was only internal, and it should be separated from the probe of the National Bureau of Investigation.

In the resolution, the board also resolved that the Valley Golf management “strictly enforce" the rules against bringing of bodyguards within the club’s premises, saying that some politician-members still enter the club premises and the golf course with their bodyguards.

Cagayan de Oro City : Flooded Again

Yesterday, most of us, residents of Cagayan de Oro City were stranded. The rain poured out hard since it started as early as 12midnight. I know in my heart, I am worried for another flood, the rain can make the waters rise again.

As early as 5am, I turned the radio, and listened to the news. The radio station was monitoring all the barangay situations, specially those near the river and the bay area. Some barangay officials deligated volunteers to specific areas for possible rescue operations.

Commercial power was off by 6AM, due to the request of some residents, whose houses were flooded up to the ceilings. Brown-out occured all over the City for safety purposes. To listen to the the radio, I used my mobile phone. Just in time, before my phone battery drained, the power was back at 12noon.

We learned from the new that Buses going to Butuan City were stranded because Gingoog City, a city next to Cagayan de Oro, was not passable because of flood. At west bound terminal the road was also filled with waters. The highway of Kauswagan were filled with water higher than the knees.

Some roads in the city, specially in Carmen were not passable also. Gaisano Grocery store in Carmen was also flooded, where in the water was knee high also. In SSS, the water level was as high as the waist line. No vehicles were able to pass this area.

In Alubijid, the buses from Iligan City were also stranded when the water in the rice field area along the road over flows like a river across the road. Also the bridges of the municipality of Opol were all destroyed by the flood. Thus making most of the vehicles stranded.

Some rescue treams were from the rafters group. Some uniform personel from Air Force, PA and Air Borne and different government offices also went for rescue and operated to monitor the said calalmity.

It is sad to know also that classes were posponed today because of the flood...

PC Crushed!

My PC crushed, in my monitoring memory usage is high. I tried to reformat, thinking a virus or ware causing ports opened.

Unfortunately my installation can't get thru. The CPU temperature, in BIOS, is monitored as high as 60 degrees even if it is just turned on. I found this similar a PC problem encountered by my cousin.

The previous PC of my cousin was diagnosed to have a defective mother board. I am using asrock board for a pinless processor. Now I see that this kind of boards don't last that long specially if used more than 8 hours a days.

I will miss being online for some time at home. I wish I could buy a new laptop soon...or someone please donate!!! Hehehe...

Black Nazarene in Cagayan de Oro City

In preparation for the Jubilee Year celebration of Narazero Parish Church of Cagayan de Oro City, I heard few announcements that made me excited. Parish Priest Mnsr. Rey Monsanto of the said church announce few of their iteneray for this year's fiesta celebration, January 9, 2009. He made mention that he already have contact person at Quiapo Church, the home of the Black Nazarene here in the Philippines. He planned to ask for clothes for Nazareno, and he made mention about their plan to borrow the replica of the pilgrim image for this year's celebration. This happened last December of 2008.

The announcements that day, in a Sunday mass, made me eager to be part of the Jubilee Year celebration of the said church. I wonder how historic it is and would also be very glad to be able to glance the replica of Black Nazarene here in our city.

Personally, I have experienced being with the Black Nazarene at Quiapo Church way back in December of 1998. But I was not lucky to encounter it as close as seeing it beautifully since it was Friday, the day devotees attend the mass, when I went there which means the church was flooded with people.

Last January 4, I attended the mass at the Parish Church of Nazreno again. During the mass the announcement made me so blessed. I learned that Quiapo Pastoral council decided to give away the replica of the pilgrim image of the Black Nazarene to Mindanao, particularly in our very own Cagayan de Oro City. They wanted Mindanao to experience the Black Nazarene, the same way people in Luzon and Metro Manila is experiencing every year. Thus this year, it was announced that there will be a simultaneous schedule of procession and mass here and in Luzon.

Last January 5, 2009 the said pilgrim image arrived in Cagayan de Oro City at around 7AM. From the airport, it was brought to the St. Agustine Catheral of this city. Priests, devotees and other religious groups went to welcome the image by a procession.

Yesterday, I came to pass by the Cathedral Church after 8PM. I was surprised that people were still lining up at that hour extending outside the church premises. The road was filled with people almost nearing the island situated along the main road.

Today, I went to attend the mass at Cathedral church. Upon entering, I saw people still lined-up and over flowing to the roads beside the church. Actually I often sit near the piano or the choir of the church, I proceed and was glad to see that the image was near my seat. I have seen that some seats were purposely disarrange to block people from getting near the image while mass is on going.

During the mass, again I felt the blessing of being able to glance at the image so close as I have experienced. I was so tempted to capture an image of it, but I respected the solemnity of the mass. During the communion, again I was tempted to get more closer or even touch the image like most people did. But I stayed lined-up for communion anyway, and I saw deligated Marshals of the image, stopped the people from getting near the image while the mass is on-going. It took us awhile to take our communion , the lay minister was thinking our line was for the Black Nazarene.

Right after the blessing of the priest upon ending the mass, some people went directly near the image. Overwhelmed with joy I felt in my heart for hearing the mass and seeing the image and devotees, I decided to finally take a picture. I did not get near it or touched it, but the image touched me. I was like crying upon leaving the church. I can fell the power of the pilgrim image touching my faith and my heart.

I thank God for the gift of being with image in our city...

Flash Back of Jan.4, 2009

Today, the rain stopped at 10AM. I saw sunlight, and glad to do some laundry as well. I finished my laundry and very glad to save water, because I used stocked rain water in our tank to wash my clothes.

At 4PM, I went to the mall to send my brother a package at LBC. Then I attended a mass at the church beside the mall. By the way, on my way to the mall, I passed by one of the bridges and so happy to see that the river water level was already low. I feel so blessed today.

A high school classmate, LP in her homecoming, who came all the way from US, invited us over for a dinner at their house. With my other six of my high school classmates, we meet at dunkin and LP fetched us.

We went to Aluba, I don't know the name of the subdivision, but it is a great big house. We went inside for a dinner and chitchat. We also tour around the house. I also learn that below that high land where we were, was the place affected by the flash flood.

Upon going home, we were able to pass the Macasandig Gym full of evacuees. I can't believe they all lost their homes. Because of the flash flood the other day, their houses were swept away by the waters. Some cows were also swept by the water. The floating restaurant of this city was also destroyed.

Also upon passing by the newly opened bridge, the bridge connecting Carmen and Macasandig, I learned that the rotonda the other day was filled with water. The said bridge was not used and that it caused heavier traffic in the city. I can't imagine how high the water that day and how many travelers were stranded.

I feel the need to write this blog, to ask assistance to those who can help. One of my classmates, Kagawad CRada of Barangay Consolasion, was not able to be with us that night because she was busy preparing goods for the affected families of the said incident in their area too. I was thinking my blog can make my readers extend help to those who need.

Let's pray that calamities become a blessing to us to help us realize that we have so much to give and share and help. May we become a blessing to each other always. God bless us!

Flood All Over Cagayan de Oro River Banks

This entry is an update of my previous blog. I learned that today, at 1:30AM total black out hit Cagayan de Oro City. According to CEPALCO, one of their sub-station failed, thus caused the total black out.

Asside from the said black out, I also mentioned about the flood. Radio reports confirmed that several places all over Cagayan de Oro City experience flood. One is Isla De Oro, Consolacion area near the river, Macasandig area near the river, Macahan near the creek area, and some parts in Gusa and Lapasan.

Some houses were destroyed. Some families left their houses. There were some who were recued by volunteer since they were stranded in their own place.

Flood in the city is not new, but since it is a start of the year, I think flood is something new for new year. Several goverment instituions were at rescue for the evacuees. Government officials were also present to make sure the needs of the people affected will be delivered immediately.

Glad to know there were assistances given to the affected families. The bayanihan was present in the city, some volunteered to rescue. Some gave food and clothings. Some offered their cars for rescue operation and related activity like trasporting the goods.

As a Christian, calamaties like flood are still blessings in disguise. It is very evident when people started to share and extend help to one another. The out-pouring blessing that the affected families were immediately provided. Thank God for the safety and the blessings!

Cagayan de Oro on Total Black Out

Today the entire City of Cagayan de Oro experience a total black out. At around 4AM, I tried to call the hotline numbers, 162, of CEPALCO - Cagayan de Oro Electric Power and Light Corporation. An operator on-duty answered me, I inquired why we experience the said thing. I was informed that the entire City is experiencing the black out and their men are already doing the patrol to check on it.

I know that night, there was rain with stong winds. In my analysis, the rain might have caused from trees to drop and fall to some wires or posts. When I woke up at 8AM, commercial power is already up. I tried to call 162 again, the hotline of CEPALCO to confirm the reason. Unfortunately all operators were busy.

Then we turned our radio on, we listened to the reports. The radio station also failed to contact CEPALCO to confirm the cause of the said black out. Upon publishing this blog, I still don't have the official reason of the black out experienced in our city.

Also the rain which started before the midnight, now caused floods in some areas of the city. Places near the river banks are now flooded, and waters were high. Will keep you posted to which places were flooded.

So, I just had the worst day of my life.

At around 1:30 PM today (DEC 26), at Valley Golf and Country Club, Antipolo City, Mayor Nasser Pangandaman, Jr., Mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur, his father, Secretary Nasser Pangandaman of the Department of Agrarian Reform, and company, beat my defenseless 56-year-old dad and my 14-year-old brother to a pulp because of some stupid misunderstanding on the golf course.

This is a golf course. I have been a golfer all my life, and I have never seen anything like this. NOTHING. This is hard to comprehend. And it happened to my own father and my own brother too. Right in front of my eyes.

My brother and I were playing golf at the South Course of Valley. We were on the 3rd hole, and we see two golf carts going past us, overtaking our flight, and setting up to tee off on the next hole. My dad goes up to them and asks them why they would do that, why they would overtake us without even asking for our permission. Golf etiquette 101. One of the guys says that they're with the flight in front of us. (So what? That doesn't give them the right to just pass us WITHOUT asking.) So, we go to the 5th hole. The flight behind us catches up with us, and asks us what caused the hold up. We said that this flight just slipped in front of our flight. So we complained to the marshall. We play the 5th hole and walk towards the next hole, where there is a teehouse, and both the flights in front of us were there, talking with the marshall. The mayor of Masiu City, Lanao del Sur talks with my dad. Things get heated up. Voices were raised. But never, in my wildest dreams, did I ever imagine that someone would pull out a punch. Apparently not. He attacks my father. His flightmates, maybe 2 or 3 of them, rush to his aid and beat up my father. My 56-year-old father. My younger brother and I could not just watch. We rushed to break the fight. My younger brother pleads to the mayor to please stop it. To not hurt my dad. To just stop. His words still ring through my head..."Sorry na po, sorry na po...tama na...tama na po..." With his hands in front of his chest in a praying position. PLEADING. The mayor socks him in the face. My brother defended himself. My dad is still on the ground getting clobbered. My brother is the same way. I try to stop the fight, but all I can do is stop one person. There were 4 or 5 of them attacking now.

Someone breaks up the fight. I thought it was all over. The mayor shouts to his caddy: "Hindi nila kami kilala! Sabihin mo nga sa kanila kung sino ako!" And believe me, I had no idea who this person was. But now I know. He's the person who, with 4 other men, beat up my 56-year-old father and my 14-year-old brother. He's the person who sacks a pleading 14-year-old kid in the face. He's a person who, I am sure, is gonna rot in hell.

I lash out, but my dad held me back. I was screaming my lungs out, shouting to this mayor, telling him about what he had done. I said:"Nakakahiya kayo. Singkwenta'y sais anyos ang tatay ko. And kapatid ko kakatorse anyos. Anong ilalaban nila sayo?"

The mayor looks at my brother, point to his face, and says, "Tatandaan kita!" And he tells me that my brother has a bad attitude and that I need to watch him. WHAT THE HELL?! So, my brother's bad for defending his father?!

We leave. We walk to the clubhouse to file a complaint. My brother asks for a doctor. My dad could barely walk. Their group comes to the clubhouse, sees my brother. Once again my brother pleads, says sorry, and is crying. He was CRYING, for crissakes. But no. The relentless mayor still punches him in the face, and then sees my dad and goes after my dad again. Him and his friend pull my dad to the ground, pulls at his feet, and steps on him like he's dirt. I run to him and try to hold him back, holding him back by his shirt, while this other guy and this girl tries to stop me. She tells me to just stop it. I scream in her face "they're beating my father up and you want me to stop?!" I pull at his shirt--I don't let go. All I can see was my dad being trampled on. I didn't even see my brother getting beat up.

People pull them away. I get my dad, and I saw my brother. His right ear was bleeding. I freaked out. I told the receptionists to bring my brother to the clinic. I pull my dad away. People were separating us.

My mom and my older brother come. I tell her Bino's right ear is bleeding. They both look like they could kill. My dad holds my brother off, I hold off my mom. When I finally got my mom under control, my older brother gets away and I hold him off. Two of the mayor's bodyguards pull out guns. I embraced my brother from the back, just holding him back, crying. The receptionists came to us, crying, hugging me, my dad, and my mom, whispering to us to just leave. "Maam, umalis na po kayo, may mga baril sila...Maam...umalis na po kayo please..."

I am pretty sure the Secretary of DAR did not take part in the fight, but he just watched all this happen. He watched two of his sons, as we figured out, the other guy was his son, too, beat up my father and my 14-year-old brother. He didn't do anything to stop it. And this person is what now? A cabinet member. A politician.

Sounds like something out of a movie, doesn't it? But this is what happened. TODAY. The day after Christmas. To my family. And all I ask for is JUSTICE. The people at Valley Golf did not seem to want to help us. None of the security guards even tried to stop the fight. Right in the clubhouse. I came back after the fight was over and talked to the receptionists. They say they did not see anything. The general manager of Valley Golf would not give us the names of the men who made my brother's ear bleed. It took him an hour. Maybe even more than that. He seemed to not want to help us. Because, we were against the SECRETARY OF THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRARIAN REFORM and the MAYOR OF MASIU CITY, LANAO DEL SUR. They were all scared.

The world has gone crazy. Two politicians beat up a defenseless 56-year-old father and his 14-year-old son. At a golf course. I swear to God, I thought golfers were decent people. You would think politicians were decent people. I guess not. I guess they gang up on 56-year-old men and beat up pleading 14-year-old kids.

Please pray for my dad, my brother and for my whole family. Please pray that we get JUSTICE. Oh God, please, give these people what they deserve.

Umagang Kay Ganda invited over Delfin Dela Paz with Bambee and Bino. I saw them on TV today, I remember the email I received yesterday. In one publications, the mayor said Bino was bigger than him. How could that be? Bino is as big as his age. So I realize I need to do something for justice.

I believe there is a need for us to know that some politicians are not sport enough to face reality, like knowing to be responsible in every actions they do. And us human beings need to know also that some people can justify their evil actions when they are of power and of influence. One Christmas Party - Fashionista : Ramp Models

Last December 13, 2008 we held our Christmas Party at SBC Party Venue. Our theme was "Fashionista", and I was lucky to have someone to sponsor for my outfit.

We had several door prices that night. Major prices like 29" TV, Refregirator, Gas Range with Hood, and a Washing Machine. Almost everybody took something home. I was lucky to have a set of bedsheet, and luckier when an officemate asked me to swap with her 1G flashdisk. We trade then, she said she wanted to give it to her family and I said yes because at the back of my mind I remember giving it to my younger sister too.

Since the theme of the party was Fashionista, everyone had the chance to nominate for the Fashionista of the Night. With my sponsored outfit and accessories as well, I was nominated to be one of the ramp models. I think I amused most of the people (9), specially knowing I was with the nominees.

A Christmas Jingle Contest was also included. Each team were to compose songs related to Philcom and sing it to the tume of any Christmas songs. Our Technical personnels did great jobs composing. I was so happy our team won the first price.

I remember, "Where is God"? article in Didache the other day, where the above passage is a confirmation.

It is true that every single second of our lives, God is with us. He is always there with us. During good times nor bad times.

However, during great times in our live, most of us forget God in our lives. We often do not recognize God.

But during bad times most of us begin to ask, "Where is God?" Most of us only seek God in our lives when we are down. But some even blame God for the bad things.

But we all know He is always there for us. And bad times are there to remind us that He is with us. And its true, after the bad times, we can then realize He is always with us when we are able to surpass storms in our lives.

It is but right to give Him the glory He deserve. To God be the glory! Amen.

Now You See Me, Now You Don't!

Working with webpage designing, I bump into a webpage maker (wpm) software. So I was hooked with a software I consider something new. I did not notice how much I enjoyed it not until I learn that its about 2AM when I shutdown my pc.

The software I had at first, downloaded for free, was a trial version of wpm. It is valid only for 15days, if not registered. Luckily, I came to learn where to get a registration code, and eureka! its now registered.

Inevitable for webpage designer not to use a photoshop. So I found some of our lovely pictures in Camiguin. I uploaded some edited photos in friendster and of course I would love to post them here too.

So first, I decided the photo to be edited, to insert the copyright thing in it. Then later decided that I love the sand more. So sorry for the faces were erased here. Hehehe. Thus you can see the sand in the pictures above and don't see them below.

Its not a movie...but next month is November...so here I am enjoying my newly formatted pc (will blog why soon). I re-installed the things I love for my program files.

I successfully found the back-up files in my old cd, and luckily photoshop was there. So I tried to refresh the things I needed to for photoshop editting, I badly need for webpage designing.

Calendar came to my mind, when I found an old photo of mine way bad 1998. We had our necklacing ceremony at that time when a photo was capture, and the photographer added a calendar with it. It was a beautiful picture, but I hate the calendar in it so I framed my picture with my sister's picture covering the calendar hehehe.

Ok so I am browsing the internet for some great ideas. To make a calendar with my photo will be as easy as using the photoshop unlike in 1998. So I am posting the finished product, with an edited picture (where the background was taken from Singapore but without me, then I decide to paste my photo in it to make you all believe I once visited the said country hehehe of course still using photoshop a year ago). Inspired by the latest Tennis US Open results, I desided to work on the US Open Champions. Namely the golfer, Tiger Woods and the recently concluded Tennis Champ Roger Federer. I remember a year ago, I found this drama so lovely. It was a great timing, when I first started to love tennis. I onced played tennis with a friend and her Japanese friend. Yes today let me pay tribute to the fiest of Saint Agustine. This link will lead you to knowing what his life was in the catholic enclylopedia.

Here in Cagayan de Oro, we celebrate this fiest every August 28. Every year people look forward to it. Specially in the church, where there are several activities related to the celebration.

The City government of Cagayan de Oro, recently passed a city ordinance, declaring August 28 as a special non-working holiday for the city. That is why in our office we are not required to work. Am lucky, I should say, I don't have to work on this day or if I would, I'll be paid more than twice as an over time.

There's a street dancing competion held last August26. And several dance troupes participated in the parade of street dances. I think Barangay Carmen of this city won the major price of this year's dance festival. And August 27 is a parade of floats. Several creatively made floats were on the streets.

Concerts in different malls were also held. Some shows also were held, some were for free and some were costly. Some events highlighted specific product brands and some showcase several mindanao products.

Of course, the highlight of this year's celebration, was the search for Miss Kagay-an 2008. The search showcase 15 beauties proudly from this city.

I guess for me, the most important thing, is to attend the mass. As early as 7AM tomorrow, I aim to hear the mass with KSD family. I do hope everyone enjoys the city fiesta. I also hope I eat a lot without having a problem digesting hehehe. God bless us always!

CISCO IP Addressing Training Videos

I found these videos very interesting, specially those who are starting to take CCNA lessons with the Cisco Academes. I am still finishing my masters in IT, and one of the subject we had was to take up Cisco 1&2, with of course the Cisco Academe. That is why, these videos appear so interesting for me.

One thing also, I think I am so atouched with telecommunications, which basically nowadays is venturing into VoIps, which evolved thru time and now uses several IT equipment as part of its operations. As a technical personnel I am hooked at gearing my self with the latest IT solutions also which our company is into. The company I belong to is a data and voice provider.

Am so glad to find several instructions in the bible. I remember what happened to my cousin who once had bad influence friends. Am glad he did not go along with them before he lost his future. Eventually my cousin manage to seek answers from his bible and leave those tempting bad companions.

Yes all about friends. Sometimes, they can cause us to sin. Sometimes they tempt us on something. I am glad my friends just tempt me to eat a lot and not to sin. Hehehe! Yes I know what you mean, gluttony can be a sin too.

I would say, most of my friends are faithful. Yes I meet most of them in the community. Some of them are close to me during my school days. But I am sure they know me, and I do know them more deeply than plain acquaintance. I guess I have known my friends personally.

I think this is what I want to thank God for. He gave me amazing friends. Friends who are there at my best and worst times. Friends whom I can rely on at any given time. Yes I do love my friends, specially the One who sent them.

Jogging

I jogged 5 years ago, until such time, I missed jogging.

To prepare my self to wear a dress, of my best friend's (wala koy choice sya ra akong female college classmate sa BSECE) wedding, I enrolled to a gym for a work out. I asked my gym instructor that I want to gain some weights but wanted to loose some bulks in my tummy. Hehehe!

So part of my work out is jogging too. I am accompanied by my sister to jog early morning. I also accompany my younger sister, who was pregnant at that time, to walk some miles around our place.

While when I go to the gym, I use treadmill for about 15minutes. In the treadmill I do plain walking right after my stretching session before my work out starts.

My gym session did not last for more than a year. Since the wedding of my best friend made me somewhat busy and I sink into the dress I wore during her wedding day. I think am too shy dealing with everyone in the gym, since most of the gym-goers were males. And am having a hard time catching the ladies in the gym, it seems that most of the time am alone. Hmmm, my officemates too were not that religious in attending their gym sessions. Also can't afford something for the gym when I started to fall in love, playing Badminton.

So I stopped going to the gym. And I missed working out. But am happy the Grace invited me to jog last night. I think one of the reason why am still awake now. Hehehe. We jogged from 6:15pm to 7:15pm.

After an hour jogging, we sat on a bench and shared some stories. We laughed and discussed things. Things we did missed talking about, when we were away from each other, she is my classmate/batchmate in college before. She used to work in Taiwan for more than 5 years and is now back home. So we called it a day after several minutes when our stomachs told us we're hungry.

SOS-CKA Day! (Sword of the Spirit-Christ the King)

Yes we just celebrated our SOS-CKA Day at the Kahayag sa Diyos (KSD) Community. We had a conference from 9AM-4PM yesterday. This year's theme: "In Such a Time Like This. " The best part for me was when I joined the music ministry that day.

About the conference, it was more of a reminder for us all. The speakers remind us about our role in the community. I was hit by one speaker, and brought me in tears. I realize how important my role is in the community. I also realize how God's strategy hit me so hard.

Yes, one speaker talked about God's strategy. And I was crying hearing all of it. Because I felt His presence in my life. I know God have been working in my life. And I was able to recall the things He has done for me, special during my not so good times.

After the conference, I went to hear the mass. The priest was talking to the parents, he mentioned that for us human beings, there is always a favoritism. And the good thing about our God is always just. He never play favoritism among us His sons and daughters. No matter if we sin or not, God's love is always the same.

I thank God for loving me, and for always telling me He is always with me. I hope and pray you too can experience His love and to have a personal relationship with Him. I neglected hearing this song. This became very popular during the PBB Teen Edition of ABS-CBN this year. My niece, who is 4 years old, would sing this in a familiar tune but unknown lyrics.

Until I went to TCC to be part of the academe. It was so fulfilling to have a dream come true of being a full time instructor. I guess one of the best part is being able to impart the knowledge I have. And being able to help the students in their field of study.

I also love the part where my student relay on me, when I know am guiding them and leading them to the way out to be the next professional. I feel like living for my students, they give me reason to wake up each day.

I guess for most instructors, it is an achievement to see their students graduate. I learned alot in the period of more than a month stay at the academe. I realize how important our teachers and instructors role on earth. I realize how to live for others. I realize that I love this song, I am sharing its video with lyrics.

I thank GOD I realized... I do hope you also realize...

5 Pageant Questions

So I am stuck answering the pageant questions given for Miss TCC. There were five questions given, so I figured out how to answer them. I am not good in thinking when I do not have enough sleep, so I went to sleep first. It means I am doing this in the middle of the snores of my father, hehehe. He is snoring in his sleep while I am typing this whole thing.

Why answer the questions, because I am tasked to help one of the candidate. Part of a commitment, hehehe. No monetary arragement, hehehe. I just want to serve them in my spare time. Of course, I think of being the contestant, not just a help, hehehe, in my dreams.

So I do hope you can relate wtih my answers. I am actually tempeted to answer number 4 with "my boyfiriend", when I know i have none at the moment hehehe. If you have violent reactions, you can kiss me, lol.

1. Do you believe that there is a dull student?

I do believe that genetics have something to do with the difference of every individual so as to knowledge development. That is the reason why there are some students who are fast learners and some who are slow learners. I think dull students belong to slow learners, and they do exist. But once slow learner students gain the proper knowledge in the length of time I believe they shine and do not stay dull. I, thank you!

2. What do you think is the main use of education in life?

Education is so important. It starts from our homes and to our schools. Education can help us realize what kind of person we want to be. An educated person can easily become responsible and deal with the society. The best thing about proper education, is that, graduates are most likely able to acquire the best jobs they aspire to have. That’s all, thank you!

3. How do you see your self five years from now?

I see my self in five years time as a successful career woman with the goal of helping those who are in need, and be of service to my beloved country while proudly bringing the name of my alma matter. As a bonus if tonight I will be crowned Miss TCC, I would see my self joining the Miss Philippines Beauty Pageant five years from now, while working in a prestigious company in the big cities such as Manila or Cebu. Good evening once again, thank you!

4. Who inspire you?

I am inspired by my faith, I live each day thanking God for the gift of life. I am also inspired by my parents and my family, who are always ready to support me in every good thing I desire and gives me the love I need everyday. Each friend I have, specially the rest of the candidates, who were willing to understand me and to share time with me when am not with my family also inspired me. I guess there are too many inspirations to be mentioning here, but this pageant have inspired me most specially because, I am able to share my talents that I used to keep within myself. 5. What is your view on premarital sex?

My view about Premarital Sex is this: Morality is a factor for many people when deciding whether or not to have premarital sex. Most Christian does not practice premarital sex since it is a vow of purity as to Christ. I believe in doing what is right and faith without action is dead. I choose virginity because I am one of the Christian believers in this country, I wanted to be pure and morally upright. It is a choice I made for my faith in God and not just for any other reasons. Coaching for a Quiz Bowl

So I will be coaching college student for a quiz bowl competition. This is part of my commitment for Tagoloan Community College. Particularly with Engr. Danilo Pasco, the dean of College of Engineering Technology.

There will be one team (with 4 members from 1st-4th year) each category. There are four categories, namely: English, Science, History (General Information) and Math.

This blog is entended to link possible site where my students can prepare for the quiz. We will be reviewing for the next few days. I do hope I can share something for them, and they win.

I remember being coached as a Math Olympiad way back my high school days. We were coached by several math teachers then. We do it every saturday and solve math problems. We did not only solve problems, but also, we learned so many technics on how to solve problem with lesser time.

My fullfilment as a Math Olympiad was when our team won in several competitons, within the city and nationwide. As a math olympiad, I gained confidence at any math problems I encounter. In life too, I think math gave me so much courage to face each trials and solve them in an olympiad way. Of course, I prayed too, God gives me the strength I need as always.

Yes I want to share something here. All about photoshop. It is one of the software applications used for most of the graphic artist.

Today, I was asked to make a logo to be used in an intramurals. But of course, am not one of the graphic artist, who can easily do it. So I asked someone else's help.

It was Eman who helped me do this logo, I am about to share to all of you. I was tasked to submit it early tomorrow. Honestly, I missed our teachings in KSD just to finish this one. I felt guilty, but very thankful God gave me His angels along the way in finishing the logo.

The student assitant of MPSC, who helped me come up with the logo, Eman. Ann who also helped one way or the other. Pol who provided us the dinner, which made me impossible to miss a meal. And CEPALCO and Philcom for the commercial power and internet.

Yesterday at 3pm my Lola died at age 82.

I have accepted her death. I know she is in peace now and is resting with our Lord. I have a previous blog about my Lola. I have honored her so much.

I will be processing her papers today for her burial related claims. I know this will be the last thing I can give her a favor. She is more than loved. I am just sad her memory failed before long before her death.

But even though her memories died, I know that in her loved ones, us, her family will have the loving memory about her always.

OJT's Narrative Report

It was on April 16,2008 when Phillip Caingles and I started our On-The-Job training at PhilCom. On that day, we were assigned in Network Management Center (NMC) Department. The supervisor and engineers welcomed us nicely. They oriented and taught us about the job that we were about to do on that day. After the orientation, Engr. Earl Clemen brought us to the Main Distribution Frame (MDF) where we met our co-ojt’s in NMC, Mark Gregor Buot and Beverlyn Ranis, doing Pot Splitter Jumpering. They taught us on how to do it and so we tried to do the jumpering. It’s not that hard as long as you know about the horizontal and vertical connections in the MDF. Pot Splitter Jumpering is done whenever there is a new PhilCom subscriber. We do also Pot Splitter Removal to minimize the unnecessary connections that are not anymore active. We also do call thru for telephone line activation.
On the following days, we used to go outside whenever there are subscriber’s line problem or trouble tickets that will be sent to our department. We did the troubleshooting together with the engineer usually at the Remote Line Units (RLU) or at Extended Line Units (ELU) depending on the location of the line problem. We did our troubleshooting in different approach. We will ask first for the subscriber’s telephone number, if it is the correct number that we will troubleshoot then that’s the time we will do the proper troubleshooting of the line. Usually, we received complains about lost of the dial tone at subscriber’s end.
On our last day, we did the troubleshooting by our own. Fortunately, we were able to fix the problem. We were so satisfied in our task done.
We were so happy, grateful and fortunate that we were able to experience and learn a lot of things that are related in the field of communications. It’s the best On-The-Job training here at PhilCom especially in NMC with the guidance of our supervisor Engr. Antonio Bontilao and supportive engineers- Engr.Earl, Engr.Jorge, Engr.Oliver, Engr. Abe, Engr. Theresa and Engr. Judith.

When it first asked: What do I want to do with my life? I simply don't know much about mine. Then again asked, Who does God want me to be? I begun to get interested.

I'd like to honor my brother on this Father's Day, for being a loving husband and a great dad. He is an achievement for my parents for being a great provider to his family. I always believe that he is our pride in the family as a brother and a son to my parents. I am proud to be his sister too!

Most specially I'd love to honor my father. We call him Papa. He is a loving husband too and a great father. No wonder my brother grow up just like him, a great dad of all time. I think my dad is doing the best thing he can for his children. That is in loving our mother.

To all dads out there, happy father's day. I do believe that, our Almighy Father is proud of all of you who have been responsible in loving the world. Company Summer Outing 2008

This year's Philcom Summer Outing was, for the second time, held at Duka Bay. It is located at Medina, Misamis Oriental, a three hours drive away from Cagayan de Oro City.

So I will be posting some of my pictures taken there, while we had some parlor games. I am also posting the view inside the beach resort. Pictures were taken last April18-19. Some of us actually went there for an overnight videoke and some swimming, I was with the team who manage to arrive at 8pm of April18. Then some came early the next morning.

If you notice some eye bags, its normal for me, its all because we just have less than an hour sleep due to our singing career that night.

The last we were here was in May of 2002, the same company summer outing. So many chances now with the beach and the place. They added several amenities and cool cottages. I think it is a lot better now.

I belonged to team Polu, we won second in the over-all competion. Actually we only lost one game out of 5 but due to the point system, we missed becoming the champion. Our group simplified each game, which made us finish each task at a very short time. In every game, intellectual intervention is necessary, which was present in our team.

I rate my team mates an A, they are very cooperative and eager to win. But most of all, we did everything to enjoy the presence of each one in the group. This makes every team excel.

We were the last team to be able to pass the thread to the next person, all because of me. The blouse I have got longer sleeves. But I did something to make it move faster. It made our time win. Hehehe!

Roland Garros Finals - 2008 French Open

No surprise, that the Spaniard 22 years old, Rafael Nadal, second man to win French Open titles for the fouth time, dominated the men's final game against Roger Federer. A game well played and well ended at 6-1, 6-3, 6-0.

While Pete Sampras was well known to me not winning the same title, I guest most of the spectators, was frustrated too knowing Roger Federer did not take home the grand slam title. I guess life is so fair. We get what we deserve, and in this year's French Open, I think Nadal was more deserving.

Nadal did his best to stand out, and made the crowd frustrated seeing the endgame at 6-0. Knowing Federer did a lot of errors in his forehand, it was a sign, for him not to be able to beat the man in clay.

To our surprise, in the women's final, 22 year old Dinara Safina made it to the finals after winning against Maria Sharapova. But Ana Ivanovic at her 20's manage to put her self to WTA's No.1 rank when she eagerly won 6-4, 6-3 against Dinara.

Ana's first slam title made the Serbs proud. Also proved that it is about time for the Serb to dominate the women's division in this year's French Open.

Not so long ago I have known tennis, I played with a Japanese friend, a friend of my officemate. Although watching the French Open was fun, being in the court simply takes more than hard work to have fun. I salute to the hard work of all the finalist of Roland Garros - French Open 2008.

Let me share my frustrations to all Federer (still ranked ATP's No.1) fans, and thanks to my friends who watched and monitored the game with me.

Today, for the first time, I attended our community district assembly. Most of the time, I do have excuses not to attend. Busy hours, career and family matters are included in those excuses. But I made no excuse today.

After knowing that month of May is a recess, for our district assembly meeting, I missed our community. In April, I experienced heaven with the community members. I realized how much I missed not attending any of our district assembly meeting.

Our community caters both single and married members. As a single KSD member, I declined to be part of the district community. I think I was so afraid to join with the married and older brothers and sisters. I limit my self in serving God. But my eyes were opened everytime married couples adopt singles in each meeting we have. It means that they provide food for us, singles, so we need not prepare anything. I felt like their child, so spoiled to have what I want, married couples pampered us singles in the community.

In todays bible reflection, the scripture mentioned about "Doing the will of God, leading to heaven". It enlightens me about how important to do His will. How important it is to be with the community for God's love.

Loving God in return because He loved me so much is what I believe to be my passport to heaven. And I think it is best expressed in the community and most specially in our office and at home. Servanthood is one thing on my mind to return the love of God for me.

I know that not all of us have the gift of service, but at the moment I keep on praying for God's help for me to be of service to others. In any way, serving others, is the will of God. To serve others to honor and praise my creature. I do believe a blog such this can serve as my inspiration to myself and others, to always remind me how to be in HEAVEN.

A Happy Mother's Day!

I will always be proud and thankful for having the best mom in this world. I know I envy those who have not seen their moms or those who don't know who their moms are.

God loved me so much to give me a mother I am loving so dearly because I think she's the best. She cares for her children a lot. She is loving and caring and very understanding. She gives us the will to decide, she believe we have the gift of wisdom.

She suffered from stroke, still recovering now, her right body is not moving. In her situation, she still keeps the faith. She makes us feel we are loved no matter how hard it is for her to move. She is fighting to gain back her life, which makes us living.

My mother is my life. I owe her a lot. In the worst case, of her stroke, I still see the bright side. Her situation makes us her children care for her more. It gives me the chance to take care of her. To make the things she's done for me when I was still young and up to this day.

Being with my mother on a Mother's Day is for me a happy mother's day!

Happy Birthday to me...

I think I am busy partying hehehe...but most of all thankful for the 31 years God has granted me. I have been counting the countless blessings. The abundance of love and the overflowing graces are overwhelming to know.

Life is so beautiful indeed. And I still long to live longer in His will.

May 1 - Reunion Day!

I started my day at 6am, heading towards the house of my brother. His house is more than 10kms away from our house. No one stays in his house when he's not in our city.

My brother and his family is now staying in Manila. They come home every vacation like the months of April to May as well as December.

My parents with my sisters and me, went to his house for their arrival. We clean the house and the surroundings. We also cook food for them.

We are always excited for their home coming. Every year, I look forward to meeting them in the airport or in the port area.

So May 1 in my calendar is marked for another reunion with my brother and his family. We meet them at the airport at 4pm.

Another reunion set on the same day is together with my college classmates and batchmates. Our first reunion after college, college was 9 years ago.

During our college days our school offered 3 courses for engineering: BSEE, BSECE, and BSCompE. I remember that on the first year, there were two sections. Designated sections were: I-A and I-B. Where each sections have 45 students per class. Only 90 students in first year.

Luckily, during the reunion, each courses were represented. However, only from I-B were present. One is an EE, three are CompE, four are ECE, and one who did not make it to finished a course but married on from the group.

We enjoyed seeing each other, and talking with each other. Some were married, and some like me were still single. Worked within the city, while others worked overseas. We missed those who were not present.

As we eat and drink, we also sing along the videoke midi player. We were at Galam Recreation Hall, in a private room number 7. The videoke private room costs P150 per hour and up, depends on how big the room.

Our last song at 11:30pm called it a day.

Blessings in Disguise

The Setting:

In preparation for the Holy week, the Kayahag sa Diyos Community (KSD), held a retreat facilitated by a priest. The venue was in Saint Mary's Academy in Capistrano Complex at Gusa. Married couples and singles were all together gathered in the said event.

During lunch, as usual, the singles were adopted by the married couples. As everyone happily partake the food holy week activities were discussed. One is about the Sedar Meal, where each single members were to decide which married couple group they would join. The groupings was based on the area or location where each members stay.

Further discussions included the Easter Sunday Party. A service team was tasked to prepare the event. I was a member of the said service team.

Inevitably, holy week getaway were secretly whispered. Specially from the singles. Some were bound to join their company to spend it at Camiguin Island. Some wanted to pray the "Stations of the Cross " at Malasag or at Balubal.

Eating was so fun and mouthful, made our stomachs as full as it can.

The Final Plan:

Since some planned to have holy week getaways, we were able to come up with a plan. To go and make a wish at "Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine" at Balubal with some singles on the following Sunday. Those who will commit will have to be at the meeting place at 5am sharp.

The plan also include bring of our own baons, our own packed meals good for breakfast and lunch. To leave those who can't make it before 5:30am. And to call each other to encourage everyone to be as early as possible

My Dilemmas:

I have my graveyard shift at the date set for our trip.

If I swap my schedule with someone, it will be hard since graveyards shift is not a flexible schedule. If we do swapping it can also mean working straight for 16hours. If I don't swap my schedule it means I will have undertime, a one-hour salary deduction. It can mean a memo from HR too or something.

My graveyards shift means my work ends at 6am. It means I can't cook for my food for both breakfast and lunch. It means I can't make it to be there before 5:30am. Worst it can mean me being left behind by the group.

The Blessings:

When I called Cheryl a day before our trip, I asked her if she can bring extra food for me. During the trip her mother prepared for more than 5 persons. The food was more than enough.

I was able to call all you confirmed to join the said trip. As early as 4:30am, I woke most of them.

In Disguise:

Fe had stomach ache a night before our trip. When I called her up she went back to sleep. At 5:30am she informed me she did not have enough sleep because of what happened. She asked me to tell the group to wait for her and me.

My Joy:

The grouped understand Fe's situation, so they waited for us. I was glad I did not have to swap or make undertime. Or make the group wait for me or make them left me. It was someone who made my way to the shrine. Its God's ways.

Indeed blessings in disguise flooded that day. The time stopped, and because we left our meeting place not at 5:30am but as late as 6:30am, we were able to have the extra ordinary trip in a jeepney. PUJs usually don't go as near as the river bank. But since some college students were heading on the same way as ours on boarded on the jeep, the driver agreed to bring us nearest the river bank.

The Finale:

After the prayer at the chapel of the shrine, we eat our baons. Since a niece of Ching celebrated a birthday a day before, we were able to have pasta and some adobo. And we were also invited to have lunch at their house.

I got home at 3pm with so full tummy. Enjoying the abundance of life God gave and believing my wishes were all granted!

That night I worked 10pm-6am shift, in between one of my graveyards shift last March 15. The rain poured so hard. I just can't help thinking on how can we get through the crossing of the river. They say its hard to have river trekking with a heavy rain a day before an event.

It was Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 6am, we decided to visit the "Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine". This shrine is located in Balubal within Cagayan de Oro City. Our meeting place was at Dunkin Donuts Divisoria. Then we ride a Bugo liner jeepney towards Tablon Elementary School.

We were fortunate, some college students were also on board on the same jeepney with the same destination, the driver decided to take us very near the river bank. We did not hike more and spend more for another ride with a tricycle. A tricycle actually charges P5 per person.

Taking off the jeepney, we meet some kids. Some of the kids sell candles. The price depends on the size of the candle. It ranges from P1-and up. Some kids sell woods. Why woods? Woods can act as canes for walking down the steams of the river. They sell it for P3. Some sell it 3 for P10.

Some did not grab a wood cane, but we were all set to do the first crossing of the river. Geared with a wood cane, I was confident to make it. Some kids meet us in that first river, they offered to help us cross the river. I did not mind them, I tried to cross the river. I was holding a friend, Fe. She's struggling just like me, I did not expected how difficult it is to cross for the first time.

So in the middle of the river, we needed to give in, we hired the kids to help us cross. As they guide, it will cost us. I did donate some amount of money for them. Some donated more than what I gave. And I survived the first river crossed.

After crossing the first river, we reached the first station. Then we all gathered and begun a prayer, "The Stations of the Cross".

Sharing to you my first White Water Rafting experience last October 23, 2003 here in our city. I was with my college classmate and friends from Smart Telecoms and together with some of their friends.

For beginners, we have this 24 rapids experience. Each raft consist of 4-7 persons with a guide in it. Participants get to paddle, so this isn't a sitting pretty thing. This requires each of the participants and the guide cooperation to enjoy each rapid.

Although this is somewhat an extreme sport, kids 5 years old and up are allowed to ride. The kids have the option not to paddle. Anyone interested to experience the trail of this exciting experience can contact me.

This is an album I have created in 2006 where I included some pictures at our badminton court. Our company thru our safety committee was able to come up with a wellness program. One of this is the successful installation of 2 badminton courts inside our warehouse.

The pictures captured here reminded me of the opening of our first company wide badminton tournament. The program culminated with the abundance of food where everybody get to eat with our Boss.

By the way I have also included two solo pictures here. One was taken inside our department during my graveyard shift, captured by the camera of JSL. And one was taken at one of our Christmas party in 2005 when I experience edema because of steroidal side effects.

First Rain in April

It is so hot this summer. The sun is shining brightly and seems to cook everything under it specially this April.

Yesterday, the rain poured out. I felt happy to know I get to sleep soundly since the weather is of great help. You see I have this graveyard shift at work, so I need to sleep at day time. Without the rain, I can barely sleep during the noon time.

Most of the time, this summer, I missed the rain so much. I know it is ironic for everyone, we miss something we often hate when it is present. Hehehe. Just like during rainy days, we get to miss the sun. An ironic fact.

No matter if its a rainy or sunny day, there is always a reason for it. I would say, I love rain when I want to sleep, but hates it when I want to roam around this world. Hehehe. I love the sun when I do not have to go out without umbrellas or sweating. I love the sun when I go out mountain climbing, so it means I need not to slide down the hills when I don't mean to hehehe.

I am writing this blog just to express how I appreciate the rain on this summer season.

Justified Anger

Today's reflection in Didache (didache-a daily bible reflections for Catholics), made mention about anger. It says a lot about me.

The light switch is like getting angry now and be cool in another minute. Yes I do that at home and almost anywhere. Specially with someone I know or some one I love. It is so easy to get angry then erase it in my senses since they are my friends or loved ones. My anger management is an "A" for me.

But something happened in October of 2003. I got angry with someone because of what he did to a family member. I do not know him and I doubt him, I never cared for him. It is so easy to just hate him or get angry with him for the rest of my life.

I would say I justified my anger over him. I was so angry because I was hurt of what this person have done to my loved one. Because I can't think of how he could simply hurt my family. The family I love most.

So I shed tear and offered a prayer. I tried to seek God's guidance, because it is so hard for me bearing the heartaches with anger. I felt so sorry about the situation and was angry.

December of that same year I attended the Christening of the son of one of my relatives, a close college batch mate in Bukidnon. During the homily, the message was about forgiving. The priest gave a scenario related to forgiveness. What the priest said "Sinners are sorry and having a hard time admitting their wrongdoings, it can be of great help if we give them prayers and forgiveness," strike me most.

After hearing that mass I felt so light, I was able to release my anger and was able to surrender the pain in my heart. Conspiracy in that Mass convinced me to forgive, my Lord healed me!

Recently Watched LOST Online

Since Lost was aired in the national television in our country, most of my officemates were crazy about it. Some even downloaded each episodes and burned in cds. Some even bothered to buy a new hard disk drive for additional storage to save files for internet giving out free downloads for lost.

In the office or in this country I can say that I am the last person to watch tv series like this. I did not bother to buy a cd. Not bothered to buy a hard drive. Or even tried my luck to watch it knowing somebody have a copy of every episodes.

When I decided to connect to the DSL, a broadband internet connection, I did not expect myself to get hooked with the tv series everybody was crazy to watch about.

But then surfing the internet, Lost is always present, always talked about. Very intriguing that I got lost in my senses and bothered watching it anyways.

So I was lucky to find a link where all seasons and episodes were available. I have the chance to see Lost for my self. And discovered how this show can kill my own time. Hehehe!

It killed most of my time for the past 2 weeks I think. Since I stared watching from season 1 episode 1 until season 4 of episode 8. It was like forgetting this world and being lost.

Yes I was lost and now was found hehehe. I recommend watching lost in the day time, for me. Why? Trailers in this show can give you a heart attack plus a night mare hehehe. Why again? I think the directors and the crews did a great job for coming up with a nice trailing and full or action and adventure ind of show. I hope you get what I mean hehehe.

To those who have watched it, I am sure you can relate. The issues presented in this show made it complex and interesting to watch. It created full of mystery and chaos and confusion to the viewers too. The viewers attention are grabbed because of the curiosity of knowing what the island is all about and how can the survivors of the plane crush go back to their homes.

I know my review is very general, but this I think is what I have experience as a viewer. I wanted to talk about each character later in this blog. Thanks for reading.

Lost tv series is worth watching, for me the rating is 9/10 and the moral lesson here is about: Trust, Love and Faith.

How do I Look at Life Seriously?

Some of my closest friends tells me I am serious with life. Although most of the time I am not aware of this.

Most of the time, I find myself making others laugh. I love making my friends happy when they are with me, those I personally encounter and relate with. They can always share a smile with me because I love to give punchlines to start a laugh.

I know that happiness comes from within. That even though I know I am shaken by the problems surrounding me, even can't imagine how I can get through, but I thank God - how grateful I am to have survived and still doing good. Trials this life brings makes me a better person and gives me the opportunity to be closer to God, that I thank God for the most!

Self pity often happens when we forget to pray. That is why when I am alone, I still try to pray to stop me from crying. I may not know what you are going thru but I think what I am going thru is with a purpose. To cheer those people who I think are sadder than me.

I know someone who keeps asking me how sad I am, I just smiled, she was able to relate that like her I am in trouble, because we both love to laugh and give jokes. We both laugh together so much harder each time we bump with each other.

When trouble comes, the bible said, we only need to trust God and stay faithful. He will deliver us from evil, and nothing can harm the believers, that I strongly believe in.

This is the title of my favorite songs. It is a song originally sung by Jim Croce. I also love Jim Croce's all time favorite love songs which include "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song" and "Photographs and Memories". Jim playing the guitar here is very adorable and I guess this made me fall for his songs.

I love the song so badly, this started when my brother taught me how to play the guitar and he too loved Jim Croce's music. This was way back in my high school days. Now I want to share the song to all of you with lyrics.

If I could save time in a bottle, the first thing that I'd like to do, is to save it everyday the day when my mother was as healthy as before. My mother actually had a stroke last May 2007 and she had a hard time now moving her right body. Although she is in the process of recovering, it is still very difficult for me to see her struggling so hard.

I know that those who are close to their mothers can relate with me. My mother is actually my source of strength at home. But when she suffered stroke this year, I always have this painful heart. I am just thankful for the Lord who is keeping me up.

My strength are all from my Lord. I know that He will heal my mother completely in the soonest time. Please include my mother's recovery in your prayers. Thanks and God bless!

My Birthday Present for Lola

Yesterday, we paid a visit to my Lola Conching. Today she turns 82. Its more than 2 years now, my Lola is suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Since this year, I was inspired to blog and made mention about my Lola, I recalled who she was when I was younger. This blog is my birthday present for her.

My Lola aside from wanting us to go to church with her, she also wants us to eat with her. She would cook healthy foods like fish and vegetables. Dinner time is like learning time. She would tell us the names of the vegetables and explains how good it is for our body. She wanted us all to grow fat as fat as her. Hehehe!

One of the vegetables that everyone hates is "OKRA". I never liked it before. She would tell us to imitate my younger sister who eats a lot of it. She tells us what nutrients are in it, that we need to give in a bite. Just recently I often craved for it, and recalled her.

Food for the body was not her sole concern, she also teaches us the food for the soul. She was the one who brought the bible study in our home. I remember being with my sister, cousin, and friends in our neighborhood of almost same ages gathered together to learn about the bible and make bible study. She used to encourage us to memorize some of the verses and all books in the bible.

Now she can't memorize a name. She lost her memory. She can't even recognize someone. I would say my Lola was not the perfect one. But my Lola was once a pastor, she became a missionary not just for us her grand children but to God's children. No matter how she forgets me and everyone around her now, in my heart I can not forget her. I believe she has full filled her mission to share God's love. I do love my Lola, hope this blog makes her happy on her big day.

Memorized Prayers and Psalms 23

Praying is my ultimate weapon against my loneliness and sadness in this lifetime. I always battle depressing situations by talking to God or just reciting some memorized prayers. In my childhood, when it comes to prayers, I often associate it with "flores de mayo" and going to church.

I am not good in memorizing now, but when I was a child, I can repeat a lecture done by a teacher in our grade school including the actions or where my teacher point or walked while saying the things in front of us. That is how good my memory was.

During "flores de mayo", most of the memorized prayers are require for us to recite one by one. We would memorize them in English as well as in our own dialect. Since I got good memory at that time I got an "A". Most memorized prayers came for the bible.

As a child, like most Catholic do, I am not familiar with the bible. But I was able to memorize David's Prayer which is Psalms 23. My lola was the one who taught me. Until now I treasure this "little treasure" my lola gave me. I pray that one day I can also share the bible to my grandchildren just like what my lola did.

By the way, I am still a Catholic now, but as a Christian I make sure to read the bible everyday unlike before.

Seder Meal Experience: "A Taste of Heaven"

When I was a child, I have been to several Lord's Day Celebrations. I actually did not cared about it that much. I just looked around the people around me, while I was playing with some other kids with me. I know they have prepared something to eat, that's why I come along with my lola.

My lola (grandmother), is not catholic, but a protestant pastor. She used to bring me to protestant gatherings and celebrations. Including "Lord's Day". I loved accompanying her most of the time, I know I have to eat later. I love eating.

Eating with the Lord, during the celebration of "Lord's Day" was something I learned later. I realize that man does not live with bread alone, as the bible says. I even envy the homes who does this every Saturday night.

When I joined KSD (Kahayag sa Diyos) Community, I appreciated the celebration more and more. We first had it while we were preparing for the baptism. I recalled my childhood, the times when I don't understand it at all. I realized I am not only matured numerically but spiritually at that time.

This year's holy Thursday, was my first Seder Meal experience. Since am still single, together with other 2, we joined the married couples with their families at Balulang to celebrate the SEDER MEAL. We were adopted by the married couples, it means the singles were sparred from bringing something. But each family brought something to eat, including utensils and wine glasses.

Seder Meals are done every holy thursday, similar to Lord's Day, but this time plenty food and drinks are offered. Some kids played, but most of the children present were sitting in the tables with their parents. I admired each family for being there not just to serve but to worship with their family. We get to know each one including the helps some families have. We eat sharing foods and stories.

I was still the child who loves to eat. But this time, I played no more but felt the presence of everyone. I was with the members who were so great in serving God and the community.It was like a taste of heaven. I have seen happy faces and it was like we were in cloud9. Thus, reading today's reflection in Didache, I became so excited to share with you one of my "Taste of Heaven".

Happy Mother's Day to all moms out there.

No knowledge about being a mom, but for me I think as a mom they need to be happy. Not all women are blessed to bear a child and give birth. Moms are really special and blessed because they experience being loved, giving love and loving unconditionally.

It's very hard to love unconditionally, for all I know especially for us human beings, but most moms do. And I know an unconditional love is the love that comes from God, He is the source of all the love in this world. I appreciate that kind of love I experience with my mom that is associated with God's love. As the song goes " love makes the world go round", it does with me!

True I have a mom and an unwed mom that is my sister. I am glad the kind of love they are in. I know they are in different situations yet LOVE is shining brightly within them for their children. That I have seen to other moms too.

Mid last year at my work place, we became crazy about sports. Sports tournaments were organized such as Basketball, Chess, and Badminton. Its not something new because the previous decade, when am not part of this company yet, they had an annual sportsfest wherein they played Dart, Tabbletennis, and Basketball.

When I was asked, "What's your Sports?", I answered without hesitation, "Badminton". I play other sports too but with my current job schedule, working for a 24X7 technical operations, I can only permit myself to play badminton. Not much torture with my mind and body but still can make me sweat just like what my gym session did before.

As a beginner I tried to seek help from a professional player. My colleague happened to be the bestfriend of a professional badminton player. They were classmates way back in their college years, and this woman played badminton during intramurals before and of course won several championship awards too. I considered her professional in badminton, since she's now a regional badminton player connected in a city government office.

Our first badminton practice started at Shuttle Square. It was tiring at first when all I did was to run and pick up the shuttlecock. I thought its a no sweat but at the end of the day I can't move my sore body, but its actually soring for fun!

Funny to know that last year I joined the singles and doubles tournament for women. I was really sorry for my opponents, who were wanting to sweat with our game. They beat me in a no sweat 2 set games. I'm also sorry for my partner, who was supposedly playing doubles but was playing for singles, everytime I am stuck in the ground where I am standing hehehe. I can't quit nor call my self a loser because every time I win or loss a game and play the third set for decision, I am happier!

As a player I know I still need more practice to improve. I was lucky to find a video all about badminton, it helped alot. Physically and mentally I did some practice. This year I am looking forward to more winnings with mixed doubles.

Love is in the air. Close Up Lovapalooza '06 last Saturday night Feb 11: in four simultaneous romance parties at Roxas Boulevard Baywalk in Manila, Bayanihan Park Mac Arthur Highway in Angeles, FGU Business Park Ayala in Cebu, and Matina Town Square in Davao City; was successfully aired live by ABS-CBN. I was still awake when it happened and of course with an event like that, I realized its VALENTINES.

I was just kidding, but still hoping hehehe when I said, "A boyfriend with flowers and chocolates or a date", to a friend who asked me what I wanted for valentines. But seriously I told her a t-shirt for my badminton sessions will be fine. My friend was inquired by someone who was obliged to give me a gift for valentines.

Witnessed lovapalooza on TV, still awake by midnight: all for LOVE. I was lying in the hospital watching my mother (she's under medication, critically ill) . Valentines is not just for lover but for families too. I was glad to see married (for more than 20 yrs) couples on stage, they inspired a lot of the filipinoes and televiewers around the globe.

I just want to thank Close-up for the activity, it made me realized I was awake because of love and for love. What I want for valentines day is to be able to thank God for LOVE, because God is of love!

I have enjoyed watching TV, specially during noontime. Recently top rated Wowowee noon time show is an all-time favorite. It's not because of the show but because of the stories you get out from the avid viewers who are participants in their games as part of the program.

You'll go crazy watching Wowowee. Why? Because after laughing, you will cry and vice versa. If you happen to watch it alone you can't help but laugh aloud, and then later in the show cry too. Stories about real people would touch your heart and reason why you laugh and cry!

The first year anniversary (Feb. 4, 2006) happen to be an ULTRA-TRAGEDY. Not for the network ABS-CBN but for us Filipinoes. We all know people were overwhelmed by the prices they can get from watching the show. Out of the economic crisis experience in our country, people tend to seek someone who can give them lighter weight of what burdens them, POVERTY!

This tragedy give us a lot of lessons to learn, and maybe we can't even understand some. Only GOD knows why this had to happen.

It hurts to see 74 dead bodies from the venue to be for the Wowowee 1st year anniversary. Let's all pray for souls of our departed kababayans, for the network ABS-CBN, for the government and President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and specially to our countrymen and country PHILIPPINES!

Manny Pacquiao, a 27 years old, is now the 3 time champion of the world. Boxing was one famous sports in our country, also because alot of Filipino boxers won several medals of recognitions and titles worldwide. It made Filipinoes famous, and our country Philippines as well.

Last January 22, 2006 it seemed like the world had stopped, everyone were infront of the television watching Pacquiao's fight. It was as if the fight of Filipinoes versus the World. It is also about letting the world know that we are proud Filipino and will fight a good fight for our country's pride.

Morales said, "I will not fight for my country, I will fight for myself", in contrast to Manny's song "Para sa 'yo ang laban na to, para sa 'yo bayan ko". You see the difference between these two boxers: one fighting for himself, and one for his country?

I would say Manny Pacquiao was a hero, and he deserved our support. He made us Filipinoes happy, united and proud.

Take it from a friend who worked abroad, called up her dad and asked " Pa kumusta man mo dha (how are you)", his dad answered "Nia malipayon kay nidaug man si Pacquiao (here happy because Pacquiao won)". This man, just like most of us, does not know Manny personally, but in his heart as Pinoy had this chance to be proud and happy.

Happy New Year! Happy Holiday!

As early as 6AM today I went to work, as usual we have our 24X7shifting sked for operations and maintenance. Still happy to know I have a job (an over time pay is a bonus) and then again missed something at home.

Last Dec.25, despite the rainy christmas day, the whole family went to see some tourist spots in the city. This includes Macahambus Gorge/Macahambus Adventure Park/Macahambus Cave, the controversial bridge connecting Taguanao and Balulang, and the latest controversy High Ridge. Since rain was unstoppable at that time, we just enjoyed our ride and the cold air brought by the rain. We stopped at the bridge and do some tummy yummy chibogs!

Today, I missed the crocodile farm visit this noon by the whole family (excluding me, of course), located in Opol, a westbond neighboring town. I am excited to see some of their pictures, I promise to share some soon.

Holidays: great time for reunions with friends and family, community and our Lord!

Christmas: Happy and Sad

Christmas in the Philippines is one of the big events before each year ends. For me there were a lot of happy and sad moments about my Christmas this year.

Reasons to be happy&thankful:

Won a stand fan during our company Christmas party.
Promoted as a manager with a business firm (my sideline, for more info email me hehehe).
We had our performance bonus.
Got a new headset with mic for my pc at home.
Able to attend the "misa de galo".
Still able to manage time for work, business, sports and fun.
Lucky number 10 rank at cdoblogger.
Received gifts that are very useful (others were instrument for me to have what I have always wanted even before I can include them in my prayers).
Spent the holiday with the whole family, my parents bro&sis, niece and nephews!
Most of all had good health.

Still sad, why?

Missed the company Christmas party (woke up 4:30AM for the mass then headed for badminton at 6AM, then hurried to the office at 9AM for router configuration workshop which was supposed to be an 8AM-5pm seminar but have to work at 2-10pm---decided not to go to the party since the venue was 30minutes away from our office, so I can sleep longer and be able to attend mass at dawn the next day).
Was not able to mail Christmas cards (or made a phone call or buy gifts for my "inaanak"-godchildren) for my friends abroad because I have very hectic schedule this month ( vacation leave were all used up and no one is available for swapping of schedules anymore---OT tendencies).
Can't use my headset at home (my 2 year old niece is simply irresistible, she wants to play with it).
Missed the 8th mass of "misa de galo" (still lucky, based on our schedule at the office I was supposed to be absent from the dawn mass for two days but my colleague had to be home on 25th decided to swap skeds).
Worst, spent Christmas eve at work.

Thanks for reading this entry, I know we can stay happy always knowing and counting our blessings. Christmas is everyday with those who are happy knowing the love of Christ!

Mindanao Earthquake

Oh my GOD, I was about to publish this blog when I accidentally erased everything I started. Well I have no choice but to write again!

Today 1:05 I was shaken by the earthquake with a still unknown intensity. I panicked because I started thinking about those quakes on tv. Its very scary specially that intensity 7 that hit Baguio way back in my elementary years. It started to run in my mind, not to mention its aftershock. I figured out the recent tsunami experienced in South Asia, too bad.

Working alone inside this room at night time would make you think about alot of scary things (our shifting schedule for 24X7 operation:6am-2pm,2-10pm,10pm-6am). And with that longer than 2minutes earthquake, who won't panic? I called an operator who is situated in another room in this building, then calm me down. We were both in the state of getting out of the building, so afraid what will happen next. We just laughed at our selves then and thanked God we were safe when the earthquake fade away.

I'll update this blog for the intesity and (I hope not so bad) aftershock if any.

Hi Grace, I might lighten up your mind in some ways or ruin your day hehehe.

Seriously:I believe guys are just like that, they can hardly express who they are and what they feel. I know you are special to him, but sometimes only maturity (according to one priest, maturity means, accepting when your bf/hubby/someone is not on time, accepting someone who gossips/etc.) can make you accept the person's attitude/character. If you think you can't handle this kind of thing, you better stop reading those book about divorce, it makes you think about it every now and then. Divorce is not good about saving the family,yes books can help us in someways. But this time I think you are too afraid that one of those stories you read might happen to you. It happened to someone I know too. If your hubby won't talk to you, then take time to talk to him, swallow you pride. PRIDE is the very thing that can ruin relationships while communication is the best. You are never alone, all the time God is with you, reason enough for you to count on your blessings and be happy. I know you are homesick and tired and affected with your reading materials, but never think about divorce-you are simple paranoid, am sorry that was my impression. I am single I know its easier said than done. But I know what you are experiencing right now facts of life, still in the adjustment period of marriage. I know some couples fight because all of us really are different, we think differently-we are UNIQUE. So no need to blame on ethnicity etc, face you fear and admit to your self that you need prayers and reflections. I know you have the best books, but I suggest you have the BIBLE. Think of happy moments and think about Pristine growing-up with a happy family. It takes two to tango, ask your hubby to make you family life happier by spending time praying together. The family that prays together stays together.

This was a comment I posted to my friends blog last November29. I know am ignorant about marriage and so with life. But the truth is I never meant to ruin my friend's day, not to anyone. I took the courage to write that comment because I thought I can help her and maybe others. I was not really expecting her negative interpretations.

Her criticism about me: I agree am single without any knowledge about marriage life can easily "swallow my pride and communicate", I know its easier said than done. This is true for all ages hehehe but I don't mean I won't get hurt if ever I have a husband soon in my life and would ignore me and my child. But I cannot take that reason "ignoring me&my child" not to communicate anyway, but the we can never tell what's next in this life.

Ethnicity/Divorce/Paranoid: I mentioned this because I was reading alot JAPS thing in her blog, that I thought she was referring to ethnicity, that Filipino-Japanese differences. Divorce was also mentioned in her blogs, that I panicked because she might be paranoid about what she's reading. Maybe I was paranoid at that time, I was just reading between the lines.

Maturity/Martyrdom: She decided to write a blog about this too and the priest. What I said about maturity does not mean that we accept what is wrong-sinful deeds, but accept that person as well as the character. We can leave the person if he remains sinful and bad, I did not mean to be a martyr. I was not questioning her faith or with anyone. I respect everybody's prerogative about religion and so on and so forth. But isn't it true we need prayers and reflections?

As a Roman Catholic, only God knows what kind of a Christian I am. When I go to church, I never meant to judge anyone, who is giving out the homily. Take for instance, you attend a seminar about this new technology thing. You then happen to know that the speaker failed all his subjects in college, was drug addict and pusher,etc. How will you learn from him if you think about that bad background, and not his background with that new technology thing?

When I wrote a comment, I viewed it in two prospective. I expected that she might might become enlightened or I ruin her day. The unexpected was her two blogs out of my longest comment ever in the world history. My apology if my comment really sound very annoying, I know it is for her. Peace na ta Grace ha?

Here in Cagayan de Oro City, the city of Golden Friendship, several CD copies of different scandals were released. There was the Liceo Scandal, Bulua Scandal and recently the XU Scandal. They call it a scandal because of the obvious pronographic sex video. Others made sex video for fun and remembrance. But some made it for money making. You can try to check about the XU scandal thing. I don't know how these scandals can help our economy grow. But right now I just want to share something about the word: SCANDAL and some pictures too.

I. NOTION OF SCANDAL

According to St. Thomas (II-II, Q. liii, a. 1) scandal is a word or action evil in itself, which occasions another's spiritual ruin. It is a word or action, that is either an external act—for an internal act can have no influence on the conduct of another—or the omission of an external act, because to omit what one should do is equivalent to doing what is forbidden; it must be evil in itself, or in appearance; this is the interpretation of the words of St. Thomas: minus rectum. It is not the physical cause of a neighbor's sin, but only the moral cause, or occasion; further, this moral causality may be understood in a strict sense, as when one orders, requests, or advises another to commit the sin (this is strictly inductive scandal, which some call co-operatlon in a broad sense), or in a large sense, as when a person without being directly concerned in the sin nevertheless exercises a certain influence on the sin of his neighbor, e.g. by committing such a sin in his presence (this is inductive scandal in a broad sense). For scandal to exist it is therefore essential and sufficient, with regard to the nature of the act and the circumstances under which it takes place, that it be of a nature to induce sin in another; consequently it is not necessary that the neighbour should actually fall into sin; and on the other hand, for scandal strictly so-called, it is not enough that a neighbour take occasion to do evil from a word or action which is not a subject of scandal and exercises no influence on his action; it must be a cause of spiritual ruin, that is of sin, consequently that is not scandal which merely dissuades the neighbour from a more perfect act, as for instance, prayer, the practice of the Evangelical virtues, the more frequent use of the sacraments, etc. Still less can that be considered scandal, which only arouses comment, indignation, horror etc., for instance blasphemy committed in the presence of a priest or of a religious; it is true that the act arouses indignation and in common parlance it is often called scandalous, but this way of speaking is inaccurate, and in strictly theological terminology it is not the sin of scandal. Hence scandal is in itself an evil act, at least in appearance, and as such it exercises on the will of another an influence more or less great which induces to sin. Furthermore, when the action from which another takes occasion of sin is not bad, either in itself or in appearance, it may violate charity (see below), but strictly speaking it is not the sin of scandal. However, some authorities understanding the word scandal in a wider sense include in it this case
II. DIVISIONS

(1) Scandal is divided into active and passive. Active scandal is that which has been defined above; passive scandal is the sin which another commits in consequence of active scandal. Passive scandal is called scandal given (scandalum datum), when the act of the scandalizer is of a nature to occasion it; and scandal received (acceptum), when the action of the one who scandalizes is due solely to ignorance or weakness—this is scandal of the weak (infirmorum),—or to malice and evil inclinations—this is pharisaical scandal, which was that of the Pharisees with regard to the words and actions of Christ.

(2) Active scandal is direct when he who commits it has the intention of inducing another to sin; such is the sin of one who solicits another to the crime of adultery, theft etc. If one prevails upon another to commit the sin not only because of an advantage or pleasure believed to accrue therefrom but chiefly because of the sin itself, because it is an offence to God or the ruin of a neighbor's soul, direct scandal is called by the expressive name of diabolical scandal. On the other hand scandal is only indirect when without the intention to cause another to fall into sin we say a word or perform a deed which is for him an occasion of sin
III. MALICE

(1) That active scandal is a mortal sin Christ Himself has taught (Matthew 18:6 sqq.) and reason makes evident. If charity obliges us to assist our neighbor's temporal and spiritual necessities (see ALMS; CORRECTION) it obliges us still more strongly not to be to him a cause of sin or spiritual ruin. Hence it follows that every sin of scandal is contrary to charity.

Moreover (2) direct scandal is obviously contrary to the virtue against which another is induced to sin; in fact every virtue forbids not only its violation by ourselves but also that we should desire its violation by another.

(3) Indirect scandal is also contrary to charity (see above); but is it also opposed to the virtue violated by another? St. Alphonsus answers in the affirmative; others, and this seems the true opinion, deny this. In fact no one has hitherto proved this species of malice, and those who admit it are not consistent with themselves, for they should also maintain, which no one does, that anyone who is indirectly the cause of an injustice by another is also bound to restitution; what is true of justice should hold good for the other virtues.
IV. CASES IN WHICH THE SIN OF SCANDAL OCCURS

The question remains: When is there a sin of scandal? for it is obvious not all who an occasion of sin to others are thereby guilty.

(1) As a general rule the sin of scandal exists when one directly induces another to do a thing which he cannot do without sin, either formal or material, e.g. by soliciting a person to perjury, drunkenness, sins of the flesh, etc., even though the person induced to this act is habitually or at the time disposed to commit it. It is otherwise when the thing we ask is good or indifferent; this may be done without scandal and without sin, when there is a just cause or serious reason for asking it; even though one foresees that the other will probably sin in granting it; thus for the common weal a judge may demand an oath even from those who will probably commit perjury; one who has need of money and who cannot find anyone who will lend to him may have recourse to an usurer although he foresees that the latter will exact exorbitant and unjust interest, etc. The thing asked must be without sin either formal or material because it is not allowed to profit by the ignorance of another to induce him to commit what is forbidden, to cause a child to utter blasphemies, to induce someone who is unaware of the precept of the Church to eat flesh on a fast day and so on. In fact in all these cases the sin is to be ascribed to the person who endeavors to cause it This is the general rule, but here the question arises, may one advise another bent on committing a great crime to be satisfied instead with doing something less evil? This question is much discussed, but the opinion which considers such a course justifiable is probable and may be followed in practice. In fact the advice thus given is not properly speaking advice to do evil but to do a lesser evil or rather not to do the greater evil which a man intends to commit; therefore some writers exact that the words or circumstances must demonstrate that one advises the evil solely as the lesser evil; others, however, consider it sufficient that such be the intention, even when not made manifest, of the person who gives the advice. Nevertheless, if a man had decided to do an injury to a certain person one could not—unless in exceptional circumstances—induce him to do a lesser injury to any other person.

(2) He is guilty of the sin of scandal who without positively pledging or inducing to sin nevertheless performs an act evil in itself which will be an occasion of sin to another. The same must be said when the act is evil only in appearance, unless there be sufficient reason to act and to permit the fault of another Thus those who blaspheme before others when they foresee that their example will cause the latter to blaspheme are guilty of scandal; so also those who attack religion or morals, hold immoral conversation, sing immoral songs or (by their behaviour dress, writings etc.) offend against the laws of decency and modesty, when they foresee, as is usual, that those who see, hear, or read will be impelled to sin.

(3) To prevent another's sin one may even be bound to forego an act which is sinful neither in itself nor in appearance, but which is nevertheless the occasion of sin to another, unless there be sufficient reason to act otherwise. It has already been shown that when there is a just cause we may ask of another a thing which he can do without sin although we may foresee that he will not do it without fault. Likewise we are not bound to be disturbed by pharisaical scandal, which may follow an action we perform; but we must avoid scandalizing the weak if we can do so easily. The application of these principles depends on concrete circumstances, which vary with each case; however, the following general rules may be given:
To prevent scandalizing another we must never transgress the negative precepts of the natural law, nor its positive precepts in cases where they truly bind; thus it is not permitted to lie to prevent a mortal sin, neither can one neglect receiving baptism to avoid the blasphemies of one's parents.
It is not permitted to pass over any precept whatever in order to prevent pharisaical scandal, but we may and even should, in special cases and for one or two occasions, pass over a precept whether Divine or human, to avoid scandalizing the weak.
We should, to avoid scandal, forego good or indifferent works which are not of precept, if we can do so without great inconvenience.
Finally, to prevent the scandal of the weak we are sometimes obliged to sacrifice some temporal good of less importance, but we are not bound to do this when the goods are of greater importance.

Love&Letting Go:Sharing

When you think of your past love,
you may view it as a failure.
But when you find a new love,
you view the past as a teacher.
In the game of love, it
doesn't really matter who won or who lost.
What is important is you know when
to hold on and when to let go!

You know you really love someone when you
want him or her to be happy, even if his or her
happiness means that you're not part of it.

Everything happens for the best. If the person
you love doesn't love you back, don't be afraid to
love someone else again, for you'll never know
unless you give it a try. You'll never love a person
you love unless you risk for love. Love strives in
hurting. If you don't get hurt, you don't learn
how to love.

Love doesn't hurt all the time, though the hurting
is still there to test you and to help you grow. Don't

find love, let love find you. That's why it's called
falling in love because you don't force yourself to
fall. You just fall. You cannot finish a book without
closing its chapters. If you want to go on, then you
have to leave the past as you turn the pages.

Love is not destroyed by a single failure or won
by a single caress. It is a lifetime venture in which
we are always learning, discovering and growing.

The greatest irony of love is letting go when you
need to hold on and holding on when you need to
let go. We lose someone we love only when we
are destined to find someone else who can love
us even more than we can love ourselves.

On falling out of love, take some time to heal
and then get back on the horse. But don't ever
make the same mistake of riding the same one
that threw you the first time.

To love is to risk rejections; to live is to risk
dying, to hope is to risk failure. But risk must
be taken because the greatest hazard in life
is risking nothing!

To reach for another is to risk involvement, to
expose your feelings is to expose your true self; to
love is to risk not to be loved in return.

How to define love: fall but do not stumble, be
constant but not too persistent, share and never
be unfair, understand and try not to demand, hurt
but never keep the pain. Love is like a knife. It can
stab the heart or it can carve wonderful images
into the soul that always last for a lifetime.

Love is supposed to be the most wonderful
feeling. It should inspire you and give you joy and
strength. But sometimes the things that give you
joy can also hurt you in the end.

Loving people means giving them the freedom
that they choose to be and where they choose to
be. For all the heartaches and the tears, for
gloomy days and fruitless years, you should give
thanks, for you know, that these were the things
which helped you grow.

Loving someone means giving him the freedom
to find his way, whether it leads towards you or
away from you. Love is a painful risk to take but
the risk must be taken no matter how scary or
painful, for only then you'll experience the fullness
of humanity and that is love.

Only love can hurt your heart, fill you with desire
and tear you apart. Only love can make you cry
and only love knows why. If you're not ready to cry,
if you're not ready to take the risk, if you're not
ready to feel the pain, then you're not ready to fall
in love.

There was a time in our lives when we became
afraid to fall in love because every time we do, we
get hurt, then I figured that's why it's called
falling in love. When you decide to love, allow it to
grow. When you promise to love, refuse to let it die!

I want to start blogging now. I dont really know if you will mind BEAUTY, but I do. I demand my cute nephews and neice to call me "Tita Beauty".

Please don't tell me I'm letting them tell a lie. I know that physically I'm not as beautiful as one of the Miss Universe. But I know for sure GOD made us all beautiful, that I want my "pamangkins" to note. I am justified?

When I went online and someone called me "beauty" is where it all started. But I am not really sure if he meant beauty not beast, I don't mind at all. He also calls my friend "heart", he said she had a long nice hair and looks like Heart Evangelista. He is just fun calling names for his chatmates, maybe as not to get in trouble with his wife who is working abroad.

So what does my friends call me aside from BEAUTY? Most of my friends call me Tisay, Thess, Teray, Tere, Tata and most of all MADAM. Names just evolved thru time (mainly contributed by our age/friends/environment/etc). Maybe when I get older, I would hear my neighbors giving me another name. Who knows?

If its BEAUTY don't know yet! Anyway, thanks for reading and may GOD bless us all.
